I would like to make a addendum to a previous post from a long time ago called To all the animals I loved before. So please read part 1. This is part 2 and takes place almost four and half years later some of the players have left for the Rainbow bridge and others have just gotten older... First of all Maisy is still with me ( my husband and I moved back to California) she is a little grayer but no less cute.
My Grandma Mitchell's dog Bambi crossed over the Rainbow bridge some time ago and joined Rambo and Grandpa Mitchell in Heaven. Jerry Lee is bigger now and I have met him, hugged him and played with him, Jerry lee is now getting to be a big brother to a shih-tzu mix named Harvey.
Harvey is a rascal he seems to like to chew though stuff, shred paper and generally be a puppy; everyone hopes he will grow out of it. He is very protective of my grandma.
The Forrey clan have no pets however they do have two semi feral cats named Joey Bag of Doughnuts and Marblehead which both are allowed in the house and are fed in the house.
My Aunt Cheryl and Uncle Ed still have Little Bits and Honey bee both are doing well with no real health problems other then old age.
Harley is my Aunt Suzy and Uncle George's standard size poodle he is very much spoiled and he seems to think he can eat anything, this attitude recently got the old boy in trouble as he ate something that had a handle and string to it ... It was touch and go for awhile there but he seems to be doing better; which I am sure is a great relief to his little buddy Baxter,a mini Schnauzer, who likes to play with Harley and generally harass him and get him into trouble but hey what are little bros for ? Right.
Now the real reason I am writing this blog I seemed to have neglected two cats that I got to know while I was in Oklahoma.
Tiger is a beautiful big Siamese mix who is despite living with my father- in -law , Jason, and my husband for several years still is extremely wild . You may ask what she mean by that? Well Tiger when she wants something will stop at nothing to get it. She has absolutely large paws and the claws to match. She is gray and sort of has stripes ( hence the name Tiger) She has big greenish yellow eyes. She loves to catch bugs and tears apart all catnip based toys. She plays hard and rough. She took a liking to my purse one time while I was visiting and I had to get my husband to get it back from her cuz every time I tried to get it she would do the Siamese yowl and swat at me. Tiger has good points to she likes to cuddle and probably be a great mommy if she wasn't spayed. She has this little stuffed otter toy and she carries it around in her mouth and then puts it down in a place she thinks no one will be able to find it. She absolutely adores big Joseph will follow him room to room, jump on his lap , sleep on the bed ,and pretty much get angry at him if he is gone from her sight for more then a day.
Junior is the exact opposite of Tiger in almost every way except for the way this little Tom cat loves his Daddy Jason. He is a domestic short hair cat that must of come from a long line of pampered kitties cuz he doesn't have any real hunting instincts and would probably not be able to survive on his own. I am of the opinion that Junior was born to the wrong species. Junior should be a dog . He is brown with dark stripes and white patches on parts of his body. He is a goofball that when he senses something isn't right will preform great acts of silliness to cheer you up. He enjoys eating whatever you are eating ( dog like right) he begs , and I am sure he would even wear a harness and walk on leash if he was trained to. his favorite sleeping position is what is called Roadkill by husband ( laying on back paws tucked close to body ) and usually in the middle of the walkway. Junior enjoys a bowl of milk every once in awhile he is a food thief, hug thief , and string and laser pointer extraordinaire. I have a favorite memory of Junior I would like to share with those who know him, I was sitting on the floor playing with some string not aware that Junebug was close at hand and he pounced and got it scared the daylights out of me . Never once did Junior the whole time we were playing ever scratch me or bite me.
Now you may ask why bring this up now? Well someone once told me that if you write about someone or something you love they never really go away . You see this last week it was Joseph and my fifth anniversary and we went on a four day cruise and had a wonderful time saw Catalina Island and went on a winery tour in Ensenada, Mexico. I found a wine actually liked.
You see Junior (Junebug) at some point had a stroke and was rushed by Jason and Big Joseph to the veterinarian and had to be put to sleep because it was the best thing for Mr. Bug . I know it is hard to make that decision your heart is going keep him alive but your head is saying it's time to let him go. So to the Seals men you did the right thing you did the hard thing and I know it hurts like hell now because unlike Dixie he was not sick for a long time before the stoke. Sure he had colds and some leg stuff wrong with him, But you all were blindsided. He lives in your hearts and in your memories. He was beautiful in his own way. He will be missed by me maybe not as much as by you all but still missed and this is what I do to try to get over the hurt .
So to Junior you are in good company at the Rainbow bridge just follow a man with scars on his neck ( Grandpa Mitchell) or a lady surrounded by little poodles, Mini Schnauzer, and assorted cats ( Grandma Phillips). They will keep you company until Joseph ,Ricky, Jason, or I come to join you.
